The Balnaves Coonawarra Vineyard was established in 1975, and is situated at the southern end of the Coonawarra Terra Rossa strip. The family, which has been associated with the district since 1855, remains fully committed to a high level of ‘hands-on’ involvement.
- Winemaking
The Chardonnay was hand picked in early March 2023 at 12.0 Baume after a long, cool ripening period. Whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented with half wild ferment and half AWRI 1375 yeast (18% new oak) and 11 months lees contact.
- Tasting Notes
An aromatic nose of white peach and jasmine complements a complex palate of lemon, chamomile and almond kernel. 34 barriques produced.
- Peak Drinking / Cellaring Potential
2-4 years, however, will cellar for longer if desired.
